Monster Alchemy Known Issues & Troubleshooting

Troubleshoot Monster Alchemy save trouble, first-cinematic lock-ups, random crashes, soft locks, and camera or blur discomfort.

Start with the symptom

  • Progress changed after the September 1 demo update: read the demo carry-over guide; older progress was reset once to enable the new transfer system.
  • Lock-up during the first cinematic: update the demo first. Team Metacarpo listed this as fixed in the demo hotfix.
  • Random crash: the same hotfix says the cause was still under investigation for some players.
  • Soft lock or application hang elsewhere: a community report confirms the symptom exists but not one universal cause. As general reporting advice, note the location, action, and build number so others can compare the same situation.
  • Motion sickness from camera movement or blur: if the current build provides camera or blur controls, reducing them may improve comfort. Stop playing if symptoms continue. The report is community-originated, not a developer diagnosis.

Save corruption or missing progress

  1. Confirm whether the change happened immediately after the September 1 demo update; that patch intentionally reset progress from older builds once.
  2. Confirm that the demo is on the current build before comparing its behavior with the old hotfix.
  3. If monsters are missing after moving into Early Access, build the Monster Manager before judging the transfer result.
  4. If the problem persists, report the exact symptom through the Steam Community Hub; the developer explicitly invited bug reports there.

The demo hotfix says a saved-data corruption bug was addressed, while also noting that the team had not fully tested the fix at publication time. Updating to the hotfixed build is the official status; documenting a returning symptom in a Steam Community report is general reporting advice.

First-cinematic lock-up

The official hotfix names a bug that could lock the game during the first cinematic and marks it fixed. The update step below follows that official status; retrying and reporting are general troubleshooting:

  1. Update to the build containing the hotfix.
  2. Retry the first cinematic.
  3. If it still locks, report that the issue persists on the current build and identify the point where input stops.

Random crashes and lower-end PCs

Team Metacarpo acknowledged random crashes for some players and separately said lower-end hardware had performance trouble. Compare your machine with the system requirements. If the crash repeats after the same action, include that action and your current build in a community report; this is general reporting guidance, not a confirmed fix.

Camera and blur discomfort

A Steam discussion reported motion sickness tied to camera movement and blur. If the current build offers relevant camera or blur options, reducing them may improve comfort. This is a comfort measure, not medical advice; stop if symptoms continue.
